Fat Transfer or Fat Graft to Face, Lips and Eyelids
Fat Rejuvenation is also known as fat grafts or fat transfer, free fat transfer,
autologous fat grafting, volume restoration, fat injections |
Fat transfer is the transfer of fat from one part of your body to another. A doctor must carefully harvest fat cells that are then injected to firm, fill out or plump up other body part like lips, cheeks or buttocks.
Many patients to restore fullness and youthful contours to the face, are turning to fat transfer rather fat transfer, also known as fat injections, fat augmentation, fat grafting, liposculpture is a process in which fat cells are removed from one part of the body and filled into another.
This procedure is most commonly used to provide a patient’s face and hands with a more youthful appearance.
Fat transfer techniques (also known as fat grafting) are used to augment many other areas of the body, including the buttocks, biceps, triceps, calf muscles, breasts, hands and penis. Many surgeons are also promoting stem cell face lifts, a fancy name for fat injections to the face.
Rejuvenation is accomplished by combining fat, rich in stem cells, with a proprietary cocktail of growth factors specifically tailored to improve the survival and longevity of the cells
fat will be removed from the donor site (usually the love handles) with a small needle The fat is then spun in a centrifuge to remove excess fluids and the damaged fat cells are picked out and only whole, undamaged fat cells would be used. The fat is then injected with the use of a separate smaller blunt cannula.
Fat transfer to the face is a safe, natural, non-allergenic procedure designed to recontour your face and can provide definition to your cheeks and chin. It can also be used to correct facial deformities. Since fat transfer uses your own fat cells, it is unlikely to have an allergic reaction. |

Don’t like that excess fat in certain facial areas?
Newly FDA Approved Technology
Fat transfer or autologous fat grafts can be used to rejuvenate the face by softly filling folds and wrinkles, to restore volume to your lips, to highlight cheek areas that have become less pronounced, and to fill areas in need virtually anywhere on the body.
Fat Transfer is one of the newest, most exciting cosmetic surgery procedures. Put in the right places, very small amounts of fat can reverse the effects of time and give a much more youthful appearance. It’s an incredibly effective procedure by itself or as an adjunct to facial surgery.
We all know that our levels of collagen in the body begin to decrease with our age. And the thousands of facial expressions we make on a daily basis can eventually show signs of wear.
Benefits of Fat Transfer
- Your own body material is used
- Often lasts for years
- Large amounts of fat are usually available
- No possibility of allergy
- Natural, more youthful appearance
- Can be used for wrinkles, folds, cheekbones, hollows under eyes, chin enhancements, and aging hands
- Gives mini-facelift
Fat can be removed from where it isn't needed and placed injection where it is necessary , perhaps, nasal area or chin. Fat transfer is the ideal - no allergies, rejection, or movement.
This procedure is done in the office, under local anesthesia. Patients usually return to normal activities in 3-5 days, although swelling can last for several weeks.
Fat transfer is long-lasting structural procedure, using your own body fat to reshape and refresh your appearance.
With a fat transfer procedure you can greatly reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, creases and folds that form in the skin, often causing you to look tired, angry or upset.
Fat transfer technique is also used to help fix and improve body proportions and surface depressions and irregularities from liposuction surgery.
This exciting new facial rejuvenation procedure allows us to sculpt and restore the face to its natural beauty.
Age and exercise can produce fat atrophy in the face resulting in a sunken, drawn appearance. Facial fat transfer is capable of recreating the natural, healthy appearance of a youthful face, by restoring volume to it.

As we age, we lose volume. Imagine a baby, brimming with youth, and the full features and soft transitions of the face. As time and gravity exert their effects, these transitions become more pronounced as soft tissue volume slowly dissipates. The transition from face to lip (the nasolabial fold or melolabial fold), the junction of the lower eyelid and cheek (the nasojugal fold, or "tear trough"), and the progression of the jowl to the chin (the marionette line), all tend to become accentuated by shadow as we age. Elsewhere on the face, full cheeks may lose their prominence, and lips may seem to thin and wrinkle. Restoring volume to smooth these transition zones and to refill areas where fullness has been lost is a wonderful solution that minimizes the effects of age, and restores youth and beauty. There are a variety of "fillers" that can be used to replenish lost facial volume: injectable fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, and your own tissue filler, fat. Fat cells can be harvested as fat grafts from your own body and injected to smooth wrinkles and other areas in need of volume.
Known as autologous fat transplantation, fat transfer, autologous fat grafts, or mico-lipo injection, fat cells are gently removed from the abdomen, thighs, or buttocks, prepared as fat grafts, and transferred to problem areas of the face or elsewhere. Fat transfer or autologous fat grafts can be used to rejuvenate the face by softly filling folds and wrinkles, to restore volume to your lips, to highlight cheek areas that have become less pronounced, and to fill areas in need virtually anywhere on the body. Fat grafts can be used to refresh tired, aged hands, and can also be used to replenish or add volume to arms, buttocks, and elsewhere. As fat grafts are fat cells from your own body, it is the most natural filler choice. Fat grafts are often performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as liposuction, facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), and other facial and body plastic surgery procedures.
