   Combination of Body Lift Procedures

The Full Body Lift procedure contains lifting of the abdomen, buttocks, hips, and thighs at the same time.

The Lower Body Lift – This procedure aims at three desired results:

    • Removing excess fat.
    • Removing excess skin above and beneath the umbilicus.
    • Repairing of over-distended muscles that are either resulted from pregnancy or excess pressure put on the muscles by body fat before weight loss.

   Types of Body Lifts

The selection of body lift surgery depends on the location of excess skin on your body and your overall aesthetic goals. Our doctor at Silverlake Virgil Surgical Center will examine and decide whether to treat a specific part of your body like an arm lift or a thigh lift or to take a more inclusive approach like treating a larger area all at once.

The full body lift surgery consists of the upper, mid, and lower body lifts that serve eliminating excess skin over large areas of the body. The complete body lifts create an entirely new figure.

   Lower Body Lift

Majority of the weight loss occurs in the areas of buttocks, hips, and thighs. If it is extreme, then it leaves behind large folds of skin that cause chafing and discomfort. Lower body lift helps in removing this excess skin, lifting the buttocks, and flattering contours of the patient’s body.

During the procedure of lower body lift, the surgeon makes an incision around the belt-line of the waist across the abdomen and down the inner thighs. Then, he removes the excess fat and skin and closes the incision that is later covered with bandages and compressing garment. It is more difficult to tighten the lower body effectively than the abdomen. Hence, many patients opt for combining the lower body lift surgery along with an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) or a mid body lift.

   Mid Body Lift

The mid body lift surgery is also called as torsoplasty. It involves the lower body lift (which includes thighs, hips, and buttocks) along with treating the abdominal region. If the method of body lift is chosen, then it is easier for the surgeon to create a smooth and continuous contour from all over the abdomen down to the thighs. Because of this, this method is preferred by many patients over the lower body lift.

The procedure to excess skin removal in torsoplasty is similar to that of lower body lift. Here, the cosmetic surgeon uses incisions around the waist to access the abdominal muscles. Then, he pulls them together and stitches into place to create a trimmer waistline and flatter stomach. The incision is then closed and bandaged.

   Full Body Lift Surgery

This type of surgery is more helpful for the patients who have lost skin elasticity all over their body. This excess skin causes them severe chafing and discomfort. It even prevents them from wearing clothes of smaller size. In the total body lift surgery, every part of the body is addressed and excess fat and surplus skin is removed. This surgery helps re-contouring of arms, breasts, abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks to achieve a smooth, trim, and lifted appearance.

Sometimes, total body lift surgery is referred to as upper and lower body lifts. During the upper body lift, an arm lift treats the arms while the breasts are contoured using a breast lift. These two surgeries can either be performed separately or during a mid or lower body lift.

The full body lift is a complex surgery. Though it is the most comprehensive way to rejuvenate your figure after massive weight loss, it also requires extended recovery period. After the total body lift surgery, you are home-bound for almost six weeks and it is also necessary to follow all the instructions given by your plastic surgeon. But once the swelling goes down and the scars begin to fade, most of the patients feel extremely satisfied with their new appearance.

   Body Lift Summary

Nowadays, body lifting is becoming a more popular cosmetic surgery. It provides an excellent solution to the individuals who are facing difficult situations created by redundant abdominal skin, lax muscles, sagging buttocks, thighs, and excess fat. If you are ready to accept the lengthy scar and recovery period, then the results are quite pleasing. It will boost your confidence and allow you to wear clothes that were previously unsuitable. If you follow a balanced diet and exercises regularly, then the “dramatic” results of this surgery will generally last longer.
